Small-Ratio playschool
Little Explorers is a certified in-home preschool based around a loose Montessori approach. Children are encouraged to explore as individuals in order to develop their own interests and gain autonomy. All activities are thoughtfully designed by a certified elementary school educator to adequately nurture the emotional, intellectual and physical growth of our kids. Rather than a rigorous single curriculum, children will be enabled to learn and explore at their own pace. Each day will include opportunities for imaginative play, song and dance, outdoor exploration, and interaction with literacy and numerical content through self-guided immersion and engaging activities. Ratios are intentionally kept small in order to ensure each child receives the care they deserve.

At Little Explorers, our mission is to provide a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe. It is a home away from home, where each individual will build meaningful relationships with one another. Parents and caregivers are an important part of the team, and will be sent daily updates. We value open communication as we navigate each child's needs , interests, and desires. The ultimate goal is for each child to feel loved and cared for as they explore new concepts, develop social relationships, and discover themselves and the world.
Our Facility
Home Away from Home
Our program is run out of our residential home in University Park, North Portland. Our space offers an open play-space with a bright window for natural light. In this space, we offer two rotating activity shelves featuring many Montessori lessons, a reading nook, arts and crafts corner, lunch and activities table, a pikler, and tumble mats for more active play. Children will have access to the main level restroom, which features child appropriate hygiene care and easy access step-stools. The kitchen will be utilized for helping prepare meals and snacks, and for weekly baking lessons. A separate bedroom offers a quiet rest space for children to wind-down for nap time and story time. A separate room is dedicated to our library space. This is a calm room where children may listen to stories or engage in mindful play (puzzles, stuffies, dolls, etc.) Our outdoor space is shared with our two rambunctious dogs, however there is a separate space for children to run free, explore the gardens, dig, build, and relax outdoors.
